Institute of Professional Sound Training Weekend

The Institute of Professional Sound Training Weekend is on the 4th and 5th of February 2012, at the National Film and Television School, Beaconsfield, Bucks. There are 2 themed days of training, with day one concentrating on Olympics OBs (comms and links) and the second day working on live sound (music).

Day 1. Saturday 4th Feb, 2012. Olympics/Comms.
This day will give essential information for any sound professional connected with, or interested in the Olympics, whether in a news, OB or PSC operation. It will also give a fascinating insight into the workings of a large scale event for anyone in the sound industry.
The day will begin with an introduction to basic communications terminology and techniques.  The information given will be tailored to the systems being used during London 2012, but will also be relevant to those interested in working on OB’s, live events, or sports coverage.
There will then be an insight into the workings of the International  Broadcast  Centre, from a TV and radio perspective.
Finally, the techniques of general stadium coverage will be discussed. Spectrum management, security, accreditation and the broadcasters handbook will be covered.
The day will finish with a Q and A session with the day’s speakers.
Registration 09:00-09:30.
First session starts 09:30.

Day 2. Sunday 5th Feb, 2012. Live Music.
The day will begin with an explanation of the different mixes used in a live sound event. Monitors, FOH sound and broadcast/record will be discussed.
There will be several live bands present . Delegates will get the chance to talk to monitor/FOH/recording engineers and gain hands on experience working with the live bands.
Each band will play in a different music style.
A Q and A at the end of the day will allow delegates to discuss  their experiences with the sound professionals present.
Registration 09:00-09:30.
First session starts 09:30.

The costs include refreshments and lunch for your booked day(s). VAT will be calculated and added. A VAT receipt will be issued after the checkout process.

There will be an optional dinner on the Saturday evening, and this can be booked and paid for on this page. Places are limited, particularly for the Sunday, so book early to avoid disappointment.

There are discounts available for IPS Students (the subsidy being provided by the Andy Hewitt Trust) and for AMPS members.

There are a number of hotels and B&Bs in the area. Here is a short list but there are more presented if you do your own search on the internet. IPS makes no reccommendations.
